Embracing Rest
Apr 03, 2024
Life can be hard, and falling down can make it feel even harder. We have all found ourselves in situations that can leave us feeling drained, out of control, and powerless. These feelings can often lead to reactive and undesired thoughts that translate into undesired actions.
When we react negatively to feelings of defeat and exhaustion, we fail to see the opportunity for rest, renewal, and receiving.
Know that you are not alone in the struggle of allowing yourself rest. We have all felt powerless at one time or another. Awareness of our thoughts and feelings and recognizing when we are experiencing a period of stress and difficulty empowers us with the information we need to move through any moment of struggle with a renewed sense of confidence and clarity. Creating new thoughts and choosing how to respond in a space of uncertainty is the key to harnessing your power and creating a more desirabe outcome.
Understanding that the life cycle is a natural process and we are deeply connected to that process is to accept that our minds, hearts, and bodies need time for inactivity, deep sleep, and renewal. As a plant goes through periods of dormancy and draws its energy back into its roots to draw nutrients from the earth, we, too, need to come back to our roots and ground ourselves in the nourishment of rest and regeneration. Pressing the pause button on life can sometimes feel impossible or unrealistic, yet it's an essential step in the renewal process and one of the most nurturing things you can do for yourself and your soul. What does this space of dormancy look like for you?
How do you receive, refuel, and restore your energy?
Tending to your energy may show up by giving yourself permission to unplug and disconnect. Perhaps it is booking a massage for yourself, curling up on the couch with a book and a cup of tea, or taking a long bath with a glass of wine, candles, and your favorite bath salts.
Allowing yourself to move into this space consciously opens up the experience of receiving nourishment from self and others. From this perspective, we can celebrate the ebb and flow of activity and embrace the downtime with love and compassion while renewing our energy for the next growth stage.
